1f. Designing Student Assessments
Formative assessments are executed in every rehearsal as well sectionals. In rehearsal, students are asked to rate their individual performance on a scale of 1-5. 5 would be "they achieved all the right notes" 1 would indicate a "need for improvement". This provides me student feedback in addition to anything I would've observed during the rehearsal.
In reference to sectionals, each student is assigned a 45-minute rehearsal twice a marking period. These rehearsals allow us to work one on one with the student and assess/document their progress in regards to vocal literacy and healthy phonation.
