3a. Communicating with Students


Communicating with students is always challenging because not everyone understands or necessarily hears you the first time.  Because of this, I write all of my daily objectives on the board so the students can reference them at any point throughout the lesson with interruption. In addition, I'm very consistent in how I rehearse.  Specifically, if I'm working a particular section of a piece I'll go back to the same place in the music so the students can almost predict where I'm going to do next.  This helps minimize any confusion during the rehearsal process.
